Several months in a centre for cerebral palsy children in Switzerland.
1983 start in a centre for baby treatment for children with developmental problems and cerebral palsy in Sint Niklaas, Belgium.
1985 start working in the university hospital of Leuven: centre for developmental problems in very young children (COS). (part time)
1986 start working (part time) in the Belgian Bobath centre in Brussels, treatment of children with Cerebral palsy.
1993 full time work at the university hospital Leuven:
1. in the centre of developmental problems (COS)
2. in the neuro-orthopedic department in a multi disciplinary team for the treatment of patients with CP.
In our team I am responsible for the treatment of the children with CP in our service after orthopaedic surgery, after botox infiltrations, after baclofen pump implants, after selective dorsal rhizotomy operations, after deep brain implants.
Children coming for intensive treatment or evaluation.
I’m in the team the responsible for the examination and treatment planning for the children coming on consultations(150 patients/week) and in the ward (24 beds).
Evaluate children in the gait lab of our centre.
3. In the Bobath centre in Brussels I’m the senior Bobath instructor responsible for the treatment centre and teaching team. We organise
at least 1 Bobath basic children course for CP a year, besides refresher and advanced courses. Our association is a member of the
European Bobath Tutor Association.
4. Since September 2006 the president of EBTA (6 years presidency).
5 I’m a scientific collaborator and lecturer at the department of movement sciences and physical therapy (FABER) at the Catholic
University of Leuven, specification in neuro sciences and treatment in children.
6 I’m a guest lecturer at the University of Gent, department Physical therapy, neuro-paediatrics.
